Privacy policy

Who this service is for

PicDay.io is a personal family portrait service for adults aged 18 or older. Children never have accounts. The person who buys a set must be the parent, legal guardian, or an authorized adult with permission for every person shown in the photos they submit.

What we collect

• Your email address, to send your private order link, order updates, and your delivery.
• The photos you upload (3 to 8 per order) and the background style you choose. Location data and other embedded metadata are removed on your device before upload.
• Payment confirmation from our payment processor, Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
• Consent records: the policy versions you accepted, when you accepted them, and whether you opted into marketing email.
• Basic usage and campaign information on our public pages, such as which ad or link brought you here. This never includes your photos.

We deliberately do not collect a child's name, birth date, school, grade, address, or any demographic details, and we ask you not to include them in filenames or notes.

How your photos are used

Your photos are used for exactly one thing: producing the four portraits you purchased, and handling a correction if you ask for one. A human editor crops, color-balances, and places your chosen background. We do not generate, reshape, or retouch faces.

We do not use your photos to train artificial-intelligence or machine-learning systems. We do not create face embeddings, run facial recognition, or derive biometric identifiers from your photos. We do not sell or share your photos.

How long we keep things

• Original uploads and working copies are deleted when your set is delivered. An automated safety-net cleanup runs every hour to catch anything missed. If you never submit an order, uploads are deleted 7 days after upload. If an order is canceled or refunded, uploads are deleted within 24 hours.
• Finished portraits are available for 30 days after delivery, then automatically deleted. You can delete them earlier from your delivery page.
• Transaction, consent, and audit records (order number, email, amount, timestamps, policy versions, status history) are kept as long as required for accounting, tax, and dispute purposes. These records never contain images.

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. The only information we send to Stripe is the amount, currency, your email for the receipt, and an internal order number. We never send names of children, photos, or filenames.

Marketing measurement (optional)

On our public pages we may ask whether you allow ad measurement. If you say yes and we have configured it, a measurement pixel from Meta may run on public marketing pages only. It never runs on your order, guide, upload, camera, or download pages, and it never receives photos, filenames, image links, access links, names, or your email. If you say no, nothing loads. Either way the service works the same.

Security

Photos are stored in private storage that is never publicly listed. Access happens through short-lived, signed links created only after we verify the private order session or an authorized editor. Your order link is single-use and exchanged for a secure session that expires after 12 hours; you can request a fresh link from the address you paid with at any time.

Your choices and rights

You can delete your delivered portraits at any time from your delivery page. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of the records we hold about you, email hello@picday.io. We will confirm what was deleted and what minimum transaction records remain. We respond to every request; response time depends on volume during the beta.

Independence

PicDay.io is an independent service. We are not affiliated with any school, district, yearbook, or school photography company, and we do not exchange data with them.

Changes

When this policy changes we update the version number at the top. Material changes will be announced on this page before they take effect. Related documents: Terms of service and Refund policy.
